Portugal international Bruno Fernandes is reportedly eager to depart Manchester United, with interest from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid adding fuel to the fire.

Currently under contract until 2026, Fernandes has seen his agent stir up interest from Bayern Munich and the Saudi Pro League, likely in an effort to leverage a more lucrative deal with Manchester United.

Despite a disappointing 2023/24 season for Manchester United, Fernandes had a standout performance, scoring ten goals and providing eight assists in the Premier League. Ideally, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe should look to build Erik ten Hagโ€™s squad around the team captain. However, rumors of a transfer have gained momentum following Portugalโ€™s elimination from Euro 2024.

Fernandes has attracted the attention of Saudi Pro League’s Al Nassr, hinting at a possible reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo. The midfielder has been given permission to negotiate with the Middle Eastern club. This follows reports that sporting director Dan Ashworth might entertain a substantial offer for Fernandes, even though the prevailing expectation is that he will remain at Manchester United and extend his contract.

According to a Spanish report, Fernandes is eager for a ‘new adventure’ away from Old Trafford. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has been actively searching for a new club for the 29-year-old, with La Liga emerging as Fernandes’ preferred destination.

Mendes has reportedly been in discussions with Barcelona officials, including Joao Laporta and Deco, as Fernandes is particularly keen on joining the Spanish club. Although Fernandes has two years remaining on his contract, Manchester United might demand a considerable transfer fee for him. However, some reports suggest that United might accept just over โ‚ฌ50 million (around ยฃ42 million).

Given Fernandes’ market value, Manchester United is expected to demand at least ยฃ60-70 million to secure a profit from his sale. Additionally, Real Madrid is also being considered as a potential destination, with Mendes reportedly offering Fernandes to the Spanish giants as well.
