It’d be the most controversial transfer of all time. Ruben Amorim, if you want to make a statement, this is how…
A Manchester United legend has recommended an unexpected transfer target for Ruben Amorim, a move that would certainly stir up reactions across the football world.
Following Erik ten Hag’s recent exit, Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is widely expected to take the helm at Old Trafford.
Despite United’s summer spending spree of £180 million on players like Matthijs De Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, and Manuel Ugarte, they are currently in a disappointing 14th place in the Premier League standings.
Amorim is likely to make further changes, particularly in the upcoming January and summer transfer windows, as United struggles with a major scoring drought. So far, their attackers Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have managed only two league goals combined. The club has netted just eight times in nine league games, making them one of the lowest-scoring teams, only surpassing Crystal Palace and Southampton, who have each scored six.
Dwight Yorke, a former United star and prolific Premier League goal-scorer with 123 goals to his name, has made a surprising suggestion on who he believes could strengthen United’s attack. He recommended that United should make a move for Darwin Nunez from Liverpool.
Switching between these two rival clubs is often controversial; Michael Owen faced backlash for a similar move in the past. However, Yorke believes Nunez’s limited playing time this season could make such a move appealing. Nunez has only started in 22% of Liverpool’s league games, often sitting behind Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Mohamed Salah in the pecking order.
“If I could bring in anyone as United’s number nine, it would be Darwin Nunez from Liverpool,” Yorke told Safest Casino Sites. “While some may dismiss this idea due to his inconsistent form, I believe there’s a powerhouse of a player in him waiting to shine.”
Yorke added that United needs a striker with Nunez’s physicality and presence to dominate on the field, and he thinks the Uruguayan could fill that role.
Nunez, who arrived at Liverpool from Benfica – a club where Amorim once played – in June 2022 for a record £85 million, has shown glimpses of talent. Yet, with only 35 goals in 107 appearances, his output hasn’t fully justified his transfer fee. The 25-year-old is currently contracted with Liverpool until the
2027/28 season.
