The 24-year-old joined United in 2022 for a staggering fee of up to £86 million but has struggled to live up to the expectations tied to his record-breaking transfer. Under Erik ten Hag’s management, Antony’s playing time has significantly diminished this season, raising doubts about his long-term prospects at Old Trafford.
Antony was brought in largely due to Ten Hag’s influence, having previously worked under him at Ajax. The United manager saw him as a crucial addition to strengthen the team’s attacking options. The transfer, which included £82 million in guaranteed payments, ranks among United’s most expensive signings.
