Manchester United have initiated discussions with French midfielder Youssouf Fofana regarding a potential transfer from Monaco, according to journalist Dylan McBennett on X.
Currently, the 25-year-old Fofana is participating in the Euros with the French national team, and any serious transfer talks are expected to be postponed until the tournament concludes. Manchester United holds Fofana in high regard as they seek to revamp their squad.
With Brazilian midfielder Casemiro likely to leave Old Trafford this summer, bringing in a new central midfielder makes sense, especially considering Fofana’s contract with Monaco is nearing its end. Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu suggests that Fofana could be available for around £30 million, as Monaco might be willing to sell.
This development coincides with ongoing negotiations involving manager Erik ten Hag, who is reportedly close to finalizing a new contract. Ten Hag is expected to have increased influence over transfer decisions, despite some previous unremarkable signings.
