‘He was really good and the best for Manchester United right now’ – Erling Haaland offers advice to Man Utd’s Rasmus Hojlund for his performance recently
Erling Haaland, who said he’s been impressed with his debut season in the Premier League, has urged Rasmus Hojlund, another Scandinavian striker and Manchester competitor, to keep getting better.
Despite a poor start, Hojlund is beginning to show promise for Manchester United. Haaland leads the Premier League in goals scored with 18, and he has now scored 54 in 57 league appearances for Manchester City.
After breaking his duck only on Boxing Day, the Dane has scored in six straight Premier League games. United suffered a significant setback when he was unable to play in Sunday’s Etihad derby.
Although Hojlund’s first encounter with the derby occurred at Old Trafford in October and resulted in a penalty after a VAR review for holding Rodri, Norwegian coach Haaland was impressed by the player. Despite their differing goalscoring records and expectations, the two strikers have been compared on occasion this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempted to bring Haaland to Old Trafford in January 2020, but the striker chose to join Borussia Dortmund instead. Haaland was frequently linked to a move to United. Currently spearheading City’s pursuit of a triple, he is aware of the strain Hojlund will face as the man anticipated to score goals at United.
“He had a difficult beginning, but things got lot better after that. He was pretty good when we played against him. Like me, he’s young and needs to continue improving. As a striker for Manchester United, it’s his duty to score goals,” the man stated.
