Manchester City Striker Erling Haaland hits back at Roy Keane after claims he plays like ‘League Two player’

In response to Roy Keane’s remarks that the Manchester City striker plays “like a League Two player in general,” Erling Haaland has taken offense.

Haaland has scored 25 goals in 28 Premier League games this season, putting him on pace to win the Golden Boot for the second straight year.

It comes after a record-breaking first season in which he scored 36 goals in 35 games.

However, this season has seen a little shift in how many view Haaland’s abilities, with many criticizing him for lacking touches.

Even if it’s his responsibility to score goals, many believe that he can still do better all around.

Haaland downplayed the remarks, adding that Keane is not something that concerns him.

He did, however, defend his position on the squad and spoke candidly to those who believe he is not doing enough.

“The question of how many times I should touch the ball has always been up for debate. In an interview with Men in Blazers, he stated, “When I score, nobody speaks about this, but when I don’t, people start to highlight my touches.”

I have no control over what others say about me; it’s just a part of my existence. My job isn’t to dominate a game like Rodri does; it’s to be in the box and finish assaults. I simply have to concentrate on what I should be doing on the pitch. That’s my main concern, and I don’t give a damn what people think. It is concentrated on making the team win.

“Even though it may seem absurd to some, you may play football without ever touching the ball. You can use your motions, your mind, and your awareness to do it.

It plays a major role in the game. Touching the ball is not the only thing to do. You must touch the ball, of sure, but I understand my position on the squad.”
