Ruud van Nistelrooy finally reveals his true feelings about Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag. His stance is crystal clear, and fans are buzzing with the unexpected insight from the legendary striker. Dive in to discover Van Nistelrooy’s honest thoughts!

Former PSV Eindhoven manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has shared his views on Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag, making his admiration for the fellow Dutchman clear.

Erik ten Hag is poised to remain at Old Trafford after Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team completed their review of the club’s performance at the end of the season.

During a challenging second season, the 54-year-old Ten Hag led Manchester United to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League. His team struggled with consistency and form throughout the 2023-24 season, compounded by numerous injuries.

Despite failing to secure a top-four spot and a place in the Champions League, Ten Hag concluded the season on a high note by winning the FA Cup. Manchester United delivered a remarkable performance at Wembley in May, defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final.

Following the FA Cup final, Ten Hag awaited news about his future at Old Trafford, which depended on the Ineos review. He revealed that United had considered former Bayern Munich and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel before deciding to retain him for the next season.

Currently, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos team is reportedly in talks with Ten Hag regarding a new contract, as his current deal expires in 2025.

In an interview with the Coaches’ Voice, Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy reflected on his coaching career and his views on Erik ten Hag. The 47-year-old former striker began his managerial career with PSV Eindhoven in 2022, leading the team to a Dutch Cup victory in his first season before resigning prior to the end of the 2022-23 season.

Van Nistelrooy expressed his “admiration” for Dutch managers, praising icons like Louis van Gaal, Rinus Michels, Johan Cruyff, Guus Hiddink, and Dick Advocaat, as well as contemporary figures like Erik ten Hag and Arne Slot.

“There is a long history of great Dutch coaches, and I have so much admiration for the careers they have had,” he said. “Rinus Michels, Johan Cruyff, Louis van Gaal, Guus Hiddink, Dick Advocaat, and now of course Erik ten Hag and Arne Slot. It motivates me to keep learning, improving myself, and maybe one day show that I am capable of that. It’s a fantastic challenge, and I’m eager to take it on.”

Regarding his future at Manchester United, Ten Hag recently commented on the decision to retain him, admitting that he has yet to finalize a new deal with the club.

“Manchester United and I still need to agree on the new contract,” he told Dutch TV station NOS. “This isn’t straightforward; we still have to discuss it further. United informed me that they spoke with Tuchel but eventually decided they already have the best manager.”
