Gareth Southgate has left England to manage Premier League club! How can he do this during the EUROS?! šŸ˜±

Gareth Southgate is positive about the prospect of returning to club management after his stint as Englandā€™s national team coach concludes.

Although he hasn’t managed a club since his exit from Middlesbrough in 2009, Southgate is unfazed.

Post-Middlesbrough, he effectively led Englandā€™s Under-21 team before becoming the senior national team coach in 2016.

Under his leadership, England reached their first World Cup semi-final since 1990 in 2018 and their first major tournament final since 1966 at Euro 2020, where they narrowly lost to Italy.

Southgate’s contract with the national team lasts until the end of 2024, with Euro 2024 potentially being his final tournament as manager.

In a conversation with Sky Sports, Southgate shared his eagerness for club management, citing his extensive experience with England.

Reflecting on his past, Southgate mentioned, ā€œI was 35 when I managed in the Premier League, and we finished 12th and 13th. My knowledge then was nothing compared to now. After this role, no job in world football would intimidate or daunt me.ā€

He recalled a conversation with Jose Mourinho, who said, ā€œWhen youā€™ve done the role youā€™re in now, youā€™ll be able to do anything.ā€

After seven years with England, Southgate feels more confident and capable than ever.

His national team experience has given him valuable insights and skills, making him ready for any management level.

Southgate said, ā€œIā€™m not going to be here for 20/30 years, and I donā€™t know what the future holds. Iā€™m very calm about that, but Iā€™m not worried about what that might be.ā€

His confidence stems from the challenges he faced managing England, which have prepared him for future roles.

His success and resilience in rejuvenating Englandā€™s performance demonstrate his growth as a manager and his readiness for new opportunities.

Despite the ongoing speculation about his future, Southgate remains focused and untroubled by the uncertainty, prepared to return to club management with a wealth of experience and newfound confidence.
