Fabrizio Romano reveals that Manchester United is on the verge of their first summer signing! According to Romano, the deal is in its “final stages,” with all eyes on the Red Devils as they prepare to unveil their latest star. This could be a game-changer for United, adding much-needed talent to their squad. Stay tuned for more updates as we await the official announcement!

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly close to signing a new contract that will extend his tenure until the summer of 2027.

Appointed in the summer of 2022 as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent replacement, the former Ajax coach has already secured two major trophies for United. His first season concluded with a Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle United, and last season saw United triumph in the FA Cup with a decisive win against Manchester City in the final.

Despite these successes, there were rumors that Ten Hag might be dismissed at the season’s end, with names like Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi, and Thomas Tuchel being linked to the role. Reports even suggested that former Bayern Munich manager Tuchel had discussions with Manchester United’s executive Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Recently, Ten Hag hinted at ongoing contract talks, following the end of speculation about his future. Speaking to Dutch TV station NOS, he mentioned that club management approached him during his vacation in Ibiza, expressing their desire to retain him. He revealed, “Manchester United told me they spoke with Tuchel, but decided I am the best manager. Ineos took their time. They are new to football and it’s normal to reflect on the season. Manchester United and I still need to finalize the new contract, which isn’t simple – more discussions are needed.”

Negotiations for a new contract have reportedly progressed in recent weeks, with the 13-time Premier League champions aiming to offer Ten Hag a two-year extension worth around £27 million. Additionally, there are rumors of a refresh in Ten Hag’s backroom staff, potentially including former United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who declined an offer to join Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that discussions over Ten Hag’s new deal are in the final stages, with the manager’s agents ready to finalize the agreement. Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Erik ten Hag is set to sign a new contract at Manchester United as the deal is almost agreed. Contacts are advancing to final stages this week with his agents to finalize terms. There will be changes in the staff with Ruud van Nistelrooy as a strong candidate, as revealed.”

Ten Hag’s third season in charge of United will begin with a Community Shield match against Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday, August 10, followed by their Premier League opener at home against Fulham six days later.
