๐Ÿ‘€ Brand-new formation โœ… Several new positions for players ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Marcus Rashford back up front Amorim has had two weeks to concoct the craziest United XI we’ve ever seen. It’s going to take a genius to make this work! ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿคฏ

Manchester United supporters were taken aback by Ruben Amorim’s inaugural starting XI as the new manager.

On Sunday afternoon, United are set to take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road, marking Amorimโ€™s debut in charge. True to expectations, the Portuguese coach has opted for a 3-4-3 formation, but his lineup includes several unexpected choices, fueling fan debate.

Amad Diallo appears to be positioned as a right wing-back, while Diogo Dalot assumes a surprising role on the left. Meanwhile, Noussair Mazraoui is included but seemingly as part of a three-man defense alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans. Up front, Bruno Fernandes is expected to operate on the right, with Marcus Rashford preferred as the central striker over Rasmus Hรธjlund.

There is speculation among fans that the lineup might shift into a back four during the match, although this would deviate from Amorim’s trademark three-defender setup, which he consistently used at Sporting Lisbon.

In his first press conference as United manager, Amorim highlighted the importance of instilling “character” in the team over rigid tactical systems. He explained, โ€œPeople focus on formations like 3-4-3 or 4-3-3, but for me, Manchester United is about the playersโ€™ character and their understanding of the club. Before we dive into tactics or pressing strategies, we need to reestablish the principles, identity, and character that have always defined this club.โ€

Amorimโ€™s emphasis on character and identity suggests he is prioritizing a strong foundation to guide the teamโ€™s evolution under his le

adership.
