VAR cheated Liverpool again: Watch how Southampton was given a penalty that was outside the penalty box due to VAR ERROR – PGMOL explained why the penalty was given– Not fair for England Referees as they seem to be favouring other clubs to win the trophy Were Liverpool Cheated by the VAR and Referee again?” – Why What’s Football Turning into 😂😥

The Premier League has clarified why VAR supported referee Samuel Barrott’s decision to award Southampton a penalty during their match against Liverpool on Sunday.

In the closing moments of the first half, Robertson was penalized for a foul on Tyler Dibling. Barrott, after a brief delay, pointed to the penalty spot. Although replays suggested the contact might have occurred just outside the box, VAR conducted a thorough review and upheld the original decision.

The Premier League Match Centre later explained, “The referee’s penalty decision for Robertson’s challenge on Dibling was reviewed and confirmed by VAR, as there was no clear evidence the foul happened outside the penalty area.”

Robertson, convinced the foul took place outside the box, urged Barrott to check the pitch-side monitor. However, the decision stood, and Southampton’s Adam Armstrong converted on the rebound after Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher saved his initial penalty.

Sky Sports commentator Bill Leslie added context, noting, “While the initial contact started outside the box, there was no conclusive proof the contact ended before both players entered the penalty area.”

The first half ended in a 1-1 draw, with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring an early goal for Liverpool and Armstrong equalizing for Southampton. The game also featured another contentious moment when Adam Lallana, a former Liverpool player now with Southampton, was booked for a challenge on Ryan Gravenberch. VAR did not recommend further review, deeming the tackle non-dangerous.

Pundit Roy Keane criticized the decision, suggesting Lallana was fortunate to avoid a red card. “He’s not in control and isn’t even looking at the ball,” Keane said. “If it were me, I’d have been sent off without question.”

Meanwhile, former Liverpool striker John Aldridge expressed skepticism over the penalty on social media, posting, “I’m pretty sure that WASN’T insi

de the area.”
