Huge news has been confirmed on Leroy Sane’s move to Liverpool this evening 🚨 Never thought I would be reading news like this.. 🤯

The January transfer window is fast approaching, and Liverpool is already being associated with numerous potential signings.

One of the players linked to the club is Bayern Munich’s winger Leroy Sane, rumored as a potential successor to Mo Salah if the Egyptian does not renew his contract with the Reds. However, former striker Sergio Aguero recently suggested that Salah has agreed to a two-year contract extension, reducing the urgency for Liverpool to pursue a right-sided forward. Consequently, a move for Sane to Anfield appears unlikely at this point.

Plettenberg: Sane-to-Liverpool Rumors Are “Not Hot”

On Monday, Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg addressed the speculation, clarifying on X:

“I’ve been informed that the rumors connecting Leroy Sané with Liverpool are not serious at this stage. There are currently no internal discussions or concrete plans for a transfer involving Sané this summer.

That said, it’s possible the 28-year-old could depart Bayern Munich on a free transfer, as the club isn’t actively working toward renewing his contract.”

Liverpool May Have Other Priorities

While Plettenberg has downplayed the speculation, Christian Falk from BILD reported that Liverpool has been in contact with Sane and is keeping an eye on him. This contrast between credible sources creates uncertainty about Liverpool’s genuine level of interest.

If Salah finalizes a new deal, Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes may shift focus to addressing other pressing needs within the squad, particularly in defense, where injuries have exposed vulnerabilities.

If contract talks between Sane and Bayern remain stalled, Liverpool might consider signing him on a free transfer down the line, a scenario also being speculated about Alphonso Davies, another Bayern star linked to the Reds.

While a move for Sane appears improbable at present, the unpredictable nature of football transfers means it’s not entirely off the table.
