Viktor Gyökeres Chooses Manchester United Over Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea—Reveals His Two Reasons

Manchester United has secured a major transfer coup, as Sporting CP’s prolific striker Viktor Gyökeres has reportedly chosen to join the Red Devils over rival offers from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea. The Swedish forward has now revealed two key reasons behind his decision to move to Old Trafford.

United began the season under Erik ten Hag, but a series of underwhelming performances led to his dismissal. Rúben Amorim took over as manager, and while his start was shaky, the team showed significant improvement before the international break, losing just once in their last seven matches. Amorim has shifted United’s formation from a back four to a back three, relying heavily on wing-backs.

In January, the club strengthened the left wing-back position by signing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. Recent reports from TBR Football suggest that United was also looking to sign a right wing-back, initially targeting Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda. However, after Quenda opted to join Chelsea, United turned their attention to Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

The race for Frimpong’s signature is heating up, with Manchester City and Liverpool also keen on signing the Dutch defender. Liverpool reportedly sees him as a potential successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is rumored to be heading to Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

Manchester United’s Transfer Push

United has already initiated discussions with Frimpong’s representatives in an attempt to outmaneuver their competitors. According to Sport Bild (via Paisley Gates), Bayer Leverkusen is willing to accept a £33.7 million (€40 million) bid for the player.

Frimpong has thrived in his role as a right wing-back at Leverkusen and could seamlessly fit into Amorim’s tactical setup. Beyond his defensive abilities, he is also capable of playing as an outright winger. The Dutch international enjoyed a stellar season last year, winning the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and the German Super Cup. This season, he has continued his fine form, contributing to 13 goals across all competitions.

As United prepares for a summer of crucial signings, the arrival of Gyökeres and the potential acquisition of Frimpong could mark the beginning of a new era under Amorim. Fans will be eagerly awaiting official confirmations as the transfer

window unfolds.
