Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola broke down in tears as another Key Manchester City player goes off injured during Training this morning, a very sad moment for Man City fans as the injury seems to be a career ending injury
Pep Guardiola downplayed worries, expressing optimism that Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland will make their injury comebacks in the coming weeks.
With Haaland missing his first Premier League match of the season due to a foot injury sustained in midweek, the Manchester City manager was without both players for the team’s 2-1 victory over Luton. Guardiola emphasised that the Norwegian attacker has not broken any bones, but he could not guarantee the player will return in time for Crystal Palace’s match the following week.
Put pressure on the bone. Tension. Simply tension,” he murmured. Do not inquire as to whether his foot is broken. All it is is stress bone.
“I don’t think he’ll be ready for Crystal Palace; he wasn’t ready for this game. I hope he can be ready for the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. How he feels will depend on the week.”
Since hobbling out of last week’s 3–3 draw with Tottenham and missing the squads for Aston Villa and Luton, Doku has not been sighted. In the same way that Kevin De Bruyne’s injury has ruined his season, Guardiola implied that the Frenchman’s issue wasn’t as bad, but he was unable to provide a timetable for his comeback because the team is being cautious.
“It’s muscular, it’s not a big big issue like Kevin was for example,” Guardiola said. Because of his explosiveness, we also need to consider it. We must exercise caution. I have no idea when he will be ready again; perhaps in a week or two.”
