Pep Guardiola has spoken out about Jack Grealish’s recent lack of minutes in the Manchester City squad.
Grealish had not started a league game since City’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United in December.
However, the City manager has now revealed some information about the winger and his lack of playing time in recent weeks.
Guardiola spoke about Grealish and his current circumstances during a recent press conference ahead of today’s match against Everton.
He stated, “Jack is taking steps to reach his full potential. He is now competing with players that are playing at a very high level, and that is the sole reason. He has to regain his form, particularly from last season and throughout his time at Villa.

After starting 41 games in all competitions last season, the 28-year-old has only made seven Premier League starts.
Given that the Englishman has only scored three goals and provided one assist in 13 league appearances this season, while players such as Jeremy Doku (two goals, five assists) and Bernardo Silva (six goals, four assists) have contributed more goals than him, Guardiola believes he needs to do more to keep his place in the team.
