‘They were just lucky yesterday, some of my best player’s where out cause of injury’ – Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola takes shot at Real Madrid’s manager Ancelotti after Real Madrid Vs Manchester City champions league draw yesterday

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, continued to have a tense relationship with the media after their Tuesday night match with Real Madrid.

Guardiola said Real Madrid President Florentino Perez would have been better off concentrating on other upgrades, even if there was discussion of covering the roof at the Santiago Bernabeu to reduce noise.

Guardiola faced a question before to the game about if his team would want to get Vinicius Junior a yellow card, which would mean he would miss the second leg of the contest. Guardiola found this proposal to be rather offensive.

When asked about the roof again after the game, Guardiola moved the conversation to the pitch’s quality. He appreciated the spectacular stadium but said he preferred the open sky.

He did, however, call for upgrades to the pitch’s quality, stressing how crucial a nice playing surface is.

Though he emphasized that it wasn’t an explanation for their performance, Rodri Hernandez had similar feelings to Guardiola, saying that Manchester City was partly impacted by the pitch’s terrible state.

According to reports, the Real Madrid team was also dissatisfied with the condition of the surface. The ongoing renovations around the stadium have made this long-standing problem at the Bernabeu worse.

It was common knowledge during Guardiola’s time at Barcelona that Real Madrid kept their grass longer and used less water on purpose to slow down the ball’s movement.

This strategy infuriated both Guardiola and Xavi Hernandez, with Guardiola clearly believing that the pitch quality was deficient on Tuesday as well.
