Manchester United are set to introduce two new additions as they begin their pre-season regimen. Today (Monday), several players, including Marcus Rashford, were seen returning to Carrington for pre-season assessments.

Notably, it wasn’t just the regular squad making an appearance. Ruud van Nistelrooy, a legendary figure at the club, was spotted at Carrington, sparking speculation about his likely appointment as one of Erik ten Hag’s assistant coaches.

Van Nistelrooy was accompanied by Rene Hake, the former Go Ahead Eagles manager, who is also expected to join Ten Hag’s coaching staff in a significant overhaul.

While Hake’s move hasn’t been officially confirmed, he has all but verified his transition. In an interview with Voetbal International, Hake expressed his excitement, saying, “The feeling I have is difficult to describe, but this is, of course, a great opportunity for me. Working in the biggest league in the world, at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“It is also a wonderful reward for me. The fact that I can go to the top of the world from Go Ahead Eagles is unique. Of course, I am grateful to Erik for this opportunity, but it is not about us knowing each other well. We just have to do good work.

“Erik has a role in mind for me, we discussed that. As in any staff, all tasks are divided among the assistants.”

Wesley Sneijder has confirmed Van Nistelrooy’s pending move, stating: “They are both good coaches. Slot did an amazing job with Feyenoord and at United, they are very confident with Ten Hag.

“He has extended his contract, also Ruud van Nistelrooy, I just got the news that he will be involved. So I think they can do a big job because they have amazing players at United. There has to be a team, they need time.”

In addition to welcoming Van Nistelrooy and Hake, United supporters might soon celebrate the club’s first summer signing. Reports indicate that Joshua Zirkzee, the Bologna striker, is nearing a transfer to the Red Devils.
