Erik ten Hag has broken his silence regarding the uncertainty surrounding his position at Manchester United. As criticism mounts due to the team’s poor run of form, the manager reaffirmed his commitment to improving the club’s performance. Ten Hag expressed determination to overcome the challenges and guide United back to success.

Erik ten Hag has dismissed the need for any reassurances about his role as Manchester United manager, calling rumors about his position “fairy tales.”

Ahead of United’s Premier League match against Brentford at Old Trafford, Ten Hag will manage his 126th game for the club amidst ongoing speculation about his future.

There were reports that United had considered replacing Ten Hag with Thomas Tuchel, though the Football Association expedited Tuchel’s appointment as the new England coach. Former England manager Gareth Southgate also reportedly ruled himself out of the running, citing plans for a break.

While club officials remained silent during the international break regarding Ten Hag’s status, he entered a press conference in high spirits, joking with reporters, “I missed you all so much,” and dismissed the need for any clarification.

When asked if he had sought reassurance about his role, Ten Hag responded, “No. The noise comes from the media, some of you, not all, but some are creating stories and lies. Inside the club, it’s calm.”

He acknowledged that discussions were ongoing about United’s disappointing league position but emphasized that the club is united and focused on the strategy to improve.

“We are not happy with where we are, and we need to turn things around, but we remain calm and confident in our plan,” Ten Hag stated.

United currently sit 14th in the Premier League with a negative goal difference after seven games, with only Southampton scoring fewer goals.

“We’re facing a tough challenge, but that’s football. I believe we’ll turn things around just as we did in previous seasons,” he added. Ten Hag highlighted that while there have been positive signs within the team, injuries and lineup issues have affected their recen

t performances.
