Third Premier League Club handed points deduction after defaulting On transfer Payments

In recent weeks, Sheffield United has become the third Premier League team to lose points.

The Yorkshire club has lost two points, and their punishment will start the following season when they play in the EFL.

United is nine points from safety at the bottom of the Premier League right now, and they are not expected to make it out of the league this year.

They will begin the next season with minus two points if they fall into the Championship.

In addition, United will get a further two points suspended until the conclusion of their EFL season after this one.

An impartial disciplinary committee decided on the penalty, which has to do with the 2022–2023 season and the club’s payment defaults to other teams.

“These defaults cumulatively were in excess of 550 days,” the EFL said in a statement.

The suspension will begin “if the club fails on any payment owing to another club under a transfer or compensation agreement for more than five business days from the due date for payment,” and Sheffield United has committed to pay the £310,455 EFL costs.
