As the year anniversary of the Gunners’ acquisition of Moises Caicedo approaches, Arsenal was forced to face him on Saturday.
Arsenal’s £60 million attempt to buy Caicedo in January of this year was unsuccessful because Brighton wouldn’t part with him.
Brighton’s attitude paid off when they sold Caicedo to Chelsea for an astounding £115 million after rejecting a £70 million offer as well.
Some questioned whether Arsenal would make another attempt to sign Caicedo in the summer, but they were more interested in acquiring Declan Rice.
However, following the final whistle on Saturday, Arsenal manager Arteta and Caicedo shared a moment.
Arteta gave Caicedo a bear embrace as the two laughed together, probably making light of Arsenal’s January offer and his Saturday encounters with the Gunners’ midfield.
