Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola responds to Wayne Rooney’s comments about being a Man City coach
In response to Wayne Rooney’s remarks regarding coaching Man City, Pep Guardiola
In response to Wayne Rooney’s recent remarks that he would be open to taking on the post of assistant coach at Manchester City should it be offered, Pep Guardiola has revealed his thoughts.
In an episode of Stick To Football that aired recently, Rooney expressed his interest in joining Guardiola’s coaching staff at City.
However, the Spaniard has since expressed his opinions on what the former striker for Manchester United said.

Guardiola responded as follows during Friday’s news conference when asked about Rooney’s remarks regarding his openness to taking on a coaching position at the Etihad Stadium.
“He is more than welcome to come at any time,” he remarked. He is obviously essential to our city, but he is also a Red Devil and United, which is wonderful for all of us.

“Wayne Rooney, he only won one Premier League? Not in my opinion. He had great success. That implies that he is aware of the challenges involved in being present, which is why he is aware of them.
Rooney’s declaration that he would be open to joining City’s coaching staff demonstrates how much he respects and is impressed by Guardiola’s work there.
Given his remarkable achievements at United throughout his playing career, it’s clear that Rooney understands what it takes to be a top competitor.
But, it doesn’t seem likely to us that the former England captain would be a hugely helpful addition to Guardiola’s coaching staff after being fired from his previous managerial position at Birmingham City after just 15 games, winning just two of them.
