“The have impressed me so far in the pres season and will have a playing spot in my Starting Eleven- Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola confirms two new Man City first team players.
After enforcing discipline on his academy players in the United States, Pep Guardiola will bring two new first team players to Manchester.
After a summer of international competitions, Guardiola sent a young Manchester City team to the United States while the majority of his senior players were still on vacation. Guardiola claims that one benefit of having the opportunity to oversee City’s finest young players and see how they behave in a first team setting is the opportunity to test new ideas, despite his many expressions of displeasure over his inability to do so.
The manager has now reduced the number of young players he had previously stated he wanted to add to his roster from five or six to only two: James McAtee and Nico O’Reilly.
Building on his goal against Barcelona, O’Reilly once again drew accolades for an outstanding display against Chelsea, his fourth start of the summer. In addition to his goal against AC Milan, McAtee also picked up two assists in the second half.
Guardiola declared, “Every game was much better than the previous one.” “Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips both grew up.” Jack [Grealish] produces some amazing games. Oscar [Bobb] has been amazing with Rico [Lewis]. McAtee fulfills his football playing potential today. Nico also performed at a high caliber.
“Every young player gets some playing time. I make my 16-year-old debut for Stephen [Mfuni] today. Everybody engaged in play. Now, some players will be on loan from other teams, while others will play for the first squad. Hopefully, they will return in the upcoming season.
“O’Reilly and McAtee will both be first team choices.” The rest are still not prepared to play with us. They must be a second team or loan player. Since it constantly relies on them, we shall see how they develop.”
