“I WAS FORCED TO LEAVE MANCHESTER CITY”, Joao Cancelo Expose Who Forced Him Out of Man City
Why was Joao Cancelo left out of Manchester City’s Community Shield squad amid speculations of a move to Barcelona?
Pep Guardiola explained Joao Cancelo’s absence from Manchester City’s Community Shield loss against Arsenal.
WHAT HAPPENED? City were defeated 4-1 on penalties by Arsenal after Leandro Trossard equalized in the 111th minute. Cole Palmer had earlier given the treble winners the lead. Cancelo was not named to City’s starting lineup despite having played for the club in preseason after coming from Bayern Munich.
WHY WASN’T CANCELO INVOLVED? Cancelo spent the second half of the previous season on loan at the Allianz Arena after supposedly falling out with Pep Guardiola. The club wishes to release the fullback, and Barcelona has already made a personal deal with him in anticipation of a possible transfer.
Guardiola, on the other hand, denied that Cancelo’s absence was due to a prospective transfer following the game at Wembley. “He [Cancelo] has to go home to Portugal to sort something out with his family,” City manager Pep Guardiola explained.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva have been linked with moves to Barcelona and Bayern Munich, respectively. When asked about being photographed eating with Walker last week, Guardiola said, “Walker and I had been looking forward to having dinner together for a while.” He is really important to us. I’m hopeful he’ll be able to stay. If they want him, they must communicate. Bernardo is in the same boat.
WHAT NEXT FOR CANCELO? The international footballer from Portugal is still under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, albeit he is unlikely to be a City player at that time. City’s most recent Premier League season will begin on August 11th, away at Burnley.
