“I don’t like playing against him. He can accomplish anything with only one pass, and I have his signed jersey in my gallery at home.”- Brighton star was full of admiration for’sloggish’ Liverpool legend as his favorite Liverpool player he would have liked to play with–not Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, or Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool fans are singing praises for Joel Matip after his stellar performance in the first half against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League match on Saturday.

Matip, recently named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for February, showcased his brilliance around the 19th minute with a stunning pass that set up Luis Diaz’s opening goal at the Amex Stadium.

Analyzing the situation adeptly, Matip threaded a precise pass through the Brighton defense, allowing Diaz to capitalize on the opportunity and find the back of the net, despite a challenge from Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

While Diaz’s bravery in the goal-scoring moment was admirable, fans couldn’t help but laud Matip for his seamless contribution to the setup.

One enthusiastic supporter on Twitter remarked, “He’s been turning everything into gold lately.”

Liverpool maintained their lead going into halftime, and later in the second half, Mohamed Salah extended their advantage with a powerful penalty kick after a handball by Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

Currently, Liverpool holds a 2-0 lead over Brighton, although controversy arose when Sanchez escaped punishment for his challenge on Diaz, a moment many Liverpool fans and players believed warranted a red card.

Despite the setback, Liverpool remains focused on maintaining their winning streak and narrowing the gap with Manchester City to just three points again.

The upcoming showdown between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on April 10 looms large in the title race, adding further intrigue to an already open competition.
