Real Madrid best player will miss the big match against Arsenal in the Champions League tomorrow

Real Madrid has provided an injury update for two of its key players ahead of their Champions League quarter-final return leg against Arsenal. The update comes as Arsenal holds a 3-0 advantage over the Spanish giants, courtesy of Declan Rice’s brace and Mikel Merino’s strike in the first leg.

According to the Real Madrid club website, French full-back Ferland Mendy and backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin are still undergoing individual recovery programs and are unlikely to return in time for the match. Mendy has been out since the last-16’s second leg last month, while Lunin has missed three matches. Meanwhile, first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been passed fit.

On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe, who was sent off in La Liga action at the weekend for a dangerous foul, will be available for selection against Arsenal. Mbappe’s red card will only result in a domestic suspension, allowing him to play in the Champions League match.

Other Real Madrid players, including Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, Luka Modric, David Alaba, Endrick, and Dani Ceballos, were all pictured in outdoor drills during training. Ceballos, who previously played for Arsenal on loan, only returned from a hamstring injury at the weekend and may be rushed back into action if selected to start.

Real Madrid will be without long-term absentees Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, as well as midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who was sent off in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium. The injury update may provide some respite for Arsenal as they look to navigate the challenging return leg and secure a spot in the Champions League semi-finals.
