It has been reported that Liverpool has successfully recruited a new manager to take over for Jurgen Klopp. Indeed, it is not Xabi Alonso! π±
Liverpool’s interest in Ruben Amorim seems to be more profound than many of the club’s fans realize. According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, both Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, key figures at Liverpool, highly regard the Sporting Lisbon coach.
Dean Jones and Danny Rust highlight the attention Amorim has attracted from Anfield, thanks to his successful stint at Sporting Lisbon.
Amorim is reportedly being considered as a leading contender for the managerial position at Liverpool, along with Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi, potentially to succeed Jurgen Klopp.
While the idea of Alonso returning to Anfield holds strong sentimental value, there’s a chance the situation could take a different turn. Alonso, respected by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, is rumored to be eyeing a stint at Bayer Leverkusen until Carlo Ancelotti’s contract ends in 2026.
Though missing out on Alonso might disappoint some fans due to his emotional connection to the club and his reputation as a promising young coach in Europe, Amorim wouldn’t be a second-rate option.
Despite not boasting coaching credentials as illustrious as Alonso’s, the former Braga head coach has already clinched a double in the Primeira Liga and is on course to secure another title with Sporting this season.
