“I can’t bench him for you no matter how bad or awful he plays, he will always start all matches for Manchester United except when he’s injured”- Manchester United manager Erig Ten Hag says he has an untouchable player he can never sub off after snubbing a player who was already on the touch line against Bournemouth

Erik ten Hag has directly addressed Alejandro Garnacho’s social media interactions with the Manchester United player.

Garnacho liked two tweets from a YouTuber who questioned his substitution at halftime during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

A United representative said that the issue was resolved internally, but they would not say if Garnacho had received formal censure. United pointed out that Garnacho quickly disliked the tweets.

Garnacho, who played the whole two hours in United’s thrilling FA Cup quarterfinal triumph against Liverpool on March 17, has been replaced in his last four games for the club.

Ten Hag was questioned by The Manchester Evening News whether Garnacho’s substitution against Bournemouth was a tactical one. Ten Hag said, “I believe we had to fix over the right side.” “The gaps were there, and we didn’t play well. We had to bring a sub there in possession.

“Garnacho did not train throughout the week. only the day before. Bring more vitality and greater qualityโ€”quality in the sense of unity and collaborationโ€”to that right-hand side, we reasoned.”

At the Vitality Stadium, Garnacho began his thirty-first consecutive United game. The 19-year-old is the overwhelming favorite to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year title.

When Ten Hag speaks to the media before to the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry later this week, questions about Garnacho’s infraction are sure to come up.
