“The behaved so selfish knowing that Cole Palmer is the Penalty taker and the went to take the ball away from him- Dele Alli slams two Chelsea stars for selfish display against Everton
After an incident between Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke on the field after Chelsea’s convincing win over Everton, Dele Alli labeled them as “selfish.”
On Monday night, Mauricio Pochettino’s team easily defeated Everton at Stamford Bridge, with Cole Palmer turning in yet another outstanding performance to score four goals and complete a flawless hat-trick.
Everton returned at Goodison Park defeated and disheartened, as Chelsea’s good run of play continued. Jackson and Blues academy graduate Alfie Gilchrist both found the scoreboard.
However, a strange altercation between teammates Jackson and Madueke after the hosts’ penalty kick in the second half partly overshadowed Chelsea’s impressive 6-0 victory.
Palmer, the official penalty taker for Chelsea, and captain Conor Gallagher engaged in a heated argument about who should take the spot kick. Despite this, none of them gave up.
After Palmer’s penalty shot beat Jordan Pickford, he became the joint-top goalscorer in the Premier League, but Jackson would not celebrate the goal.
Due to personal and medical concerns, Everton midfielder Dele has not played this season. He criticized Jackson and Madueke, saying they “showed their age.”
“I believe Pochettino will be really disappointed,” he said on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports. “What really stands out about him is how much he values the players as individuals, and it seems self-serving for them to act that way.”
“They want to score—it’s admirable that players want to score—but they should do it throughout the match.” Simply move away from the ball if you’re not the taker.
When the pressure was on against Manchester United in the last seconds, I didn’t see them doing it.
Mauricio is obviously unhappy with it. They will grow from it since they are young players.
The former England player continued, saying, “In my opinion, this is them aging.” They didn’t seem to be struggling to accept the heavy penalty against United.
After the game, Pochettino spoke with Sky Sports and said that he was furious because he had seen two of his players fight on the field.
However, he was thrilled with Chelsea’s “perfect” performance, which included a hat-trick from summer acquisition Palmer in the first half that lasted 29 minutes.
We had a few excellent games, but overall, Pochettino expressed satisfaction with the team’s effort and the way the game got off to a strong start.
“Today was the ideal game; we showed a new attitude against Sheffield United and we discussed last week about how we progressed in many areas.”
The Blues manager said, “I need to be honest, of course when we signed him he was a wonderful talent,” in response to Palmer’s performance.
He has adjusted himself and is doing really well. He is doing wonderful. From the beginning, the influence on the squad was incredible. I’m overjoyed for him and the group.
After crushing Everton, Chelsea gained distance on their competitors for European qualification, but it was a terrifying night for Sean Dyche’s team, who are now 16th in the Premier League and just two points above the relegation zone.
