Fans have slammed Nicholas Jackson on social media after he squandered a fantastic opportunity to put Chelsea ahead against Manchester City.
The 22-year-old has 13 goals in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s struggling team this season, but he has had a tough first season in England.
He has received widespread criticism for missing a lot of great opportunities, and his problems in front of goal continued in the FA Cup semi-finals.
On the half-hour mark, Enzo Fernandez placed the Senegalese striker through on goal after running from his own half.
He walked around Ortega but didn’t fire, hoping to catch Cole Palmer before Nathan Ake intercepted.
Chelsea supporters flocked to social media to vent their rage, with some believing the team needs a new striker.
One remarked, ‘As brilliant as Jackson is, that’s probably why we’re searching for a striker.’
