When Kylian Mbappe was little, pictures of Cristiano Ronaldo adorned the walls of his bedroom. It seems like he is going to emulate his hero.

Mbappe was determined to emulate Ronaldo, even as a child growing up in the northeastern suburbs of Paris.

Ten years later, Mbappe spoke candidly about the impact the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has had on his career in an interview with the Spanish magazine MARCA.

He remarked, “It was great to meet him when I visited Valdebebas. He is an idol from my boyhood.”

Years after witnessing Ronaldo establish himself as one of the all-time greats at the Bernabeu, Mbappe will now don the iconic white shirt following the confirmation of his Real Madrid transfer on Monday night.

After the announcement of the contract, he called it “a dream come true.” “I’m thrilled and honored to have joined Real Madrid, the team of my dreams. No one can truly comprehend my current state of excitement.”

In response to the transfer, Mbappe also shared a photo of himself with Ronaldo on a visit of Real Madrid’s practice area, in which he ran into the record-breaking striker for Portugal.

Shortly after, the individual left his own remark as a comment on Mbappe’s post.
