Man City manager Pep Guardiola is set to leave Manchester City next summer and he has been linked to join Thier Rival Club Manchester United in shocking move
After his contract with City expires, Pep Guardiola has ruled out moving to Manchester United, even though he had previously stated that he could see himself managing there.
After joining City from Bayern Munich eight years ago, the Spanish strategist has won six Premier League crowns, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and a coveted Champions League trophy. He is presently in the last 12 months of his contract. According to insiders, Guardiola will leave the Etihad at the end of the 2024โ2025 campaign.
Guardiola admitted that he could envision himself leading Old Trafford before he signed up with the Citizens two years ago, after receiving a phone request from Sir Alex Ferguson to talk about the team. Journalist Marti Perarnau, a personal friend of Guardiola’s, wrote about the manager in his book Pep Confidential: “I appreciate this environment.” One day I could see myself serving as a coach here.
“Even though Bayern’s training area was larger and had more technological amenities than Barca’s, Pep preferred the arrangement at Sabener Strasse. After being impressed, the Catalan confided in Manuel Estiarte, his personal assistant, saying, “I like this location.” One day, I could see myself serving as a coach here.
“At Manchester United, Pep had made a very similar statement a few months prior. Guardiola and Estiarte traveled to Manchester the day after defeating Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinal to watch their upcoming opponents play. The two were sitting together in the Old Trafford stands on May 4, 2011, watching Sir Alex Ferguson’s team defeat Schalke 4-1.”
