Legendary oxlade chamberlain set to be back at Anfield after terminating his contract with Beşiktaş 😳 oxlade chamberlain returning to Liverpool?
A former member of Liverpool’s 2019/20 Premier League-winning team might return to English football this summer, but to a surprising club.
As reported by Turkish news source Sabah, Besiktas is open to selling Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain if they receive a suitable offer, as they do not intend to keep the 30-year-old.
The midfielder is apparently eager to come back to England, only a year after leaving Liverpool on a free transfer, with Sheffield United expressing interest in signing him.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s tenure under Jurgen Klopp was hindered by frequent injuries, limiting his ability to consistently display his skills. He netted four goals during Liverpool’s title-winning season and replicated that number with Besiktas in the 2023/24 season, despite missing four months due to a thigh injury. Now, Besiktas is ready to let him go after just one year.
In Istanbul, Oxlade-Chamberlain earns £2.1m annually, approximately £40,000 per week, which is higher than the salaries of most Sheffield United players.
Although Sheffield United has been relegated to the Championship, likely leading to a reduced wage budget, acquiring Oxlade-Chamberlain would be a notable move for both the club and the English second tier.
No matter where he ends up next season, there is optimism that Oxlade-Chamberlain can finally enjoy an injury-free season, allowing him to fully realize his potential after a promising yet injury-plagued start at Anfield.
