Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been exploring various options regarding Manuel Ugarte’s potential move to Old Trafford, as reported exclusively by Fabrizio Romano for GIVEMESPORT.

Romano mentions that PSG and United maintain a strong relationship, having discussed several players in their recent meeting.

Although discussions about Ugarte’s transfer have taken place, a deal remains far from finalized. However, PSG is open to his departure this summer as they aim to acquire a new midfielder.

The 23-year-old is set for another summer transfer, just a year after moving from Sporting Lisbon to PSG for £51 million.

Ugarte, admired by United manager Erik ten Hag, was linked with the club last summer before his significant transfer to PSG.

United, who integrated youngster Kobbie Mainoo into the first team last season, are now looking to build their midfield around him, with Ugarte considered as a potential partner in Ten Hag’s third season.

The PSG midfielder could replace fellow South American Casemiro, who may leave United after an underwhelming season.

Romano told GMS that Ugarte has “good possibilities” of leaving PSG this summer as the French club seeks a new midfielder:

“There is a very good relationship between the two clubs. They discussed several points and possibilities. Nothing is imminent or close, but Ugarte’s name came up during the meeting between PSG and Manchester United. Ugarte has good chances of leaving PSG this summer because they want to bring in a new midfielder.”

Ugarte struggled in his first season in France, failing to feature in manager Luis Enrique’s starting line-up for any of the Champions League knockout stage matches.

In his debut season at PSG, Ugarte made 37 appearances across all competitions, recording three assists in Ligue 1.

GMS previously reported that Ugarte might be available for a temporary move this summer, with a loan to Man United being considered.

As the Red Devils aim to strengthen five key areas this summer, their current priorities are signings in the center-back and center-forward positions, with Dan Ashworth now playing a crucial role after joining Old Trafford.

Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt and Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee are potential summer signings for United, who seek to recover from a disappointing Premier League season.

Bayern defender Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly interested in joining Manchester United this summer, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

De Ligt, who could reunite with Ten Hag at Old Trafford, is seen as a replacement for Raphael Varane, who left after his contract expired.

With United unlikely to pursue Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite due to a £70 million asking price, de Ligt is now a viable alternative.

Reports from the Netherlands indicate that United have already offered de Ligt a five-year contract as they prepare to kick off their summer transfer business in July.
