Man Utd’s interest in Jarrad Branthwaite is cooling off! Once a hot prospect for the Red Devils, sources now reveal the pursuit is losing momentum. The 21-year-old Everton defender, known for his towering presence and calm demeanor, was on United’s radar to bolster their backline. However, recent reports suggest that the club is shifting focus to other targets. As transfer windows ebb and flow, it seems Branthwaite’s potential move to Old Trafford might not materialize after all. Stay tuned for more updates!

Manchester United’s interest in Jarrad Branthwaite is waning due to Everton’s firm €80 million (£68 million) asking price, reports journalist Christopher Michel.

Initially, Branthwaite was United’s top target for a central defender this summer, and they had shown willingness to pay a substantial fee with an initial £35 million bid for the 21-year-old. However, it’s now suggested that the club’s new ownership wants to avoid past mistakes and not get involved in a lengthy transfer saga.

While United still admire Branthwaite, Michel notes that Everton’s insistence on their high fee means United are likely to look elsewhere. Potential alternatives include Matthijs de Ligt, Jean-Clair Todibo, Marc Guehi, and Leny Yoro.

According to Michel, United’s interest in Branthwaite has “cooled significantly.” Everton remains firm on their price, approximately £70 million, which United’s new owners are unwilling to meet to avoid repeating previous costly transfer errors like those involving Harry Maguire and Antony.

Branthwaite had an impressive 2023/24 season with Everton, playing 41 matches and helping the team maintain their Premier League status despite a points deduction. His performance attracted interest from top clubs including United, Chelsea, and Tottenham.

Although Romano indicated to GIVEMESPORT that Branthwaite had agreed to personal terms with United, the high asking price might keep him at Everton. United has since shifted focus to De Ligt and offered the Bayern Munich defender a five-year contract.

Strengthening their defense remains a priority for United, but they’re also looking to enhance their attack, which scored only 57 Premier League goals last season. Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee has emerged as a primary target to compete with Rasmus Hojlund, with United contemplating a £46 million bid.

Additionally, United is eyeing Ivan Toney, available for around £40 million, and are also considering wide forwards to compete with Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford. Although Michael Olise is reportedly set to join Bayern, United is attempting to intercept the move for the French winger.
