On Tuesday, Real Madrid unveiled Kylian Mbappe to an enthusiastic crowd at the Santiago Bernabeu. The star forward revealed that he had declined offers from other clubs to join the La Liga champions.
Mbappe, a lifelong fan of Real Madrid, had always envisioned himself in the club’s iconic white jersey. Although he came close to joining in 2022, he opted to stay with Paris Saint-Germain for two additional years.
This summer, Real Madrid successfully secured Mbappe’s transfer.
During his presentation, Mbappe acknowledged turning down other offers to join the reigning Champions League holders, stating via Fabrizio Romano:
“I had other offers, but I always told them no. I was very confident that this moment would happen. Real Madrid was my only option.”
Despite being destined for Real Madrid, Mbappe had other options for the 2024/25 season.
Paris Saint-Germain, keen to retain their star player, was a strong contender. Liverpool also showed interest, but the financial requirements made a deal challenging.
Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal offered €300 million for Mbappe last summer, but the French star declined, as moving to the Middle East was never part of his plans.
In the end, Mbappe’s determination to join Real Madrid ensured that nothing stood in the way of his dream transfer.
