Manchester United has reportedly had a £52 million offer accepted by Lille for their 18-year-old defender, Leny Yoro. Yoro, a top defensive target for United, is also being pursued by other major clubs, including Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain. The player has yet to decide on his future.

According to Mail Sport, Lille is eager to proceed with United’s bid as they aim to wrap up their transfer activities promptly before the next season. The Guardian reports that United is in talks with Yoro’s representatives to finalize the deal.

However, United’s manager Erik ten Hag might not secure Yoro’s signing, as the player reportedly prefers joining Real Madrid. Despite this preference, Real Madrid, having recently signed Kylian Mbappe, is not willing to match United’s offer of £42 million plus £10 million in add-ons. Instead, they are considering waiting until next summer to sign Yoro when he becomes a free agent, pressuring Lille to finalize the deal with United swiftly.

In addition to Yoro, United is eyeing other defenders such as Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt to bolster their squad in the current transfer window.

During this transfer period, Manchester United has raised funds by selling academy graduate Willy Kambwala to Villarreal and agreeing in principle to a £30 million move of Mason Greenwood to Marseille.

United also recently secured their first major signing of the summer, acquiring Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5 million.
