Jarrad Branthwaite has affirmed his commitment to Everton despite Manchester United’s attempts to sign him, with two bids from the Red Devils being rejected.

Manchester United had identified Branthwaite as a key target for their summer transfer plans following his stellar first season at Goodison Park. The 22-year-old defender earned both Everton’s Players’ Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards for his performances.

His standout displays drew United’s interest as they aimed to bolster their defense this summer. However, Everton turned down both offers, valuing Branthwaite between £70 million and £80 million. United’s highest bid was £46 million, leading them to shift their focus to their secondary target, 18-year-old Leny Yoro, who has now undergone a medical at Old Trafford.

Branthwaite has dismissed speculation about a potential move away from Everton, emphasizing his development and commitment to the club. “For me, it’s about applying what I learned from last season and the season before. Playing consistently last season helped me gain the necessary experience,” he told Everton’s official website.

He aims to build on last season’s experience and continue improving. “A strong defensive record boosts confidence going into the new season. It’s a team effort, guided by the manager’s setup to maximize our chances of winning and accumulating points. Hopefully, we can secure early victories to build momentum.”

Branthwaite also highlighted the importance of game time for young players to gain experience. “Playing numerous games provides the needed experience. Last season’s games significantly contributed to my performance improvement.”

In addition to United’s interest, Branthwaite’s performances earned him his first cap for England. Reflecting on his debut in a 3-0 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina, he expressed pride and a desire to represent his country further.

“Confidence in your ability is essential, especially in the world’s most challenging league with top-tier players. Representing my country was a dream come true, a significant achievement for me and my family. I aim to play for England as much as possible by performing well for my club and impressing the next England manager.”

  1. Branthwaite remains focused on his future with Everton, looking to build on his experiences and contribute to the team’s success.
