Manchester United is reportedly required to offload at least one player to make room for Manuel Ugarte.

This summer transfer window has already seen United secure striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and defender Leny Yoro from Lille.

With the new season approaching, various players are being linked to a move to Old Trafford. Notably, Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte has reportedly agreed to personal terms with the Red Devils.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared on social media: “Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Manuel Ugarte. Contract terms discussed, and the player is eager to join United even without Champions League football. Talks with PSG are ongoing, with other clubs also showing interest. Jorge Mendes, who also represents Leny Yoro, is involved.”

However, Romano later indicated that United might need to sell a player before signing the Uruguayan midfielder. He noted, “Man United are working on outgoings, with Casemiro or Scott McTominay possibly making way for a new midfielder. Ugarte is keen on the move, but it’s up to the clubs.”

On Friday morning, Romano provided another update, stating: “Paris Saint-Germain is prepared to let Manu Ugarte leave for Manchester United, as they are keen on acquiring João Neves. Talks between PSG and Benfica over Neves’ fee are ongoing, while discussions between United and PSG over Ugarte’s fee continue.”

United began their pre-season fixtures with a 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg on Monday evening. Following the match, United manager Erik ten Hag commented: “The result is not secondary. In pre-season, the standard at Manchester United is to win games and certainly not to lose. If you can’t win, don’t lose, but we did in the last seconds. Performance is crucial, and we fell short of the standard.”
