After spending time on loan at another sister club, Collin Millar of The Athletic remarked on X that the method by which City was allowed to recruit Savinho from a sister club he had never played for would be problematic inside the top game of football. They are all three clubs in the City Football Group.
For Troyes in 2022, Savinho was a record-breaking €12.5 million (£10.5m/$13.6m) acquisition. But instead of helping the French Ligue 1 team go up the standings, he immediately signed a loan deal with PSV Eindhoven. Troyes lost their 2022–2023 season due to his absence. The Brazilian subsequently signed a 2023–24 loan with Girona, where he scored 19 goals and provided 19 assists, astonishingly leading the team to the Champions League. Troyes, meanwhile, experienced consecutive relegations. He is currently a £33.7 million ($43.5 million) transfer target to Manchester City, the premier team in the CFG.
The most well-known multi-club format in the world is the City Football Group. Since its founding in 2013, it has grown to include 11 members from four continents, in addition to a few other “partner clubs” with which the CFG is not directly involved. Savinho is not the only player to switch CFG teams without making an impact on the team he joins.
