Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of securing their third signing of the summer transfer window, targeting Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.

So far, the Red Devils have successfully brought in Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and 18-year-old center-back Leny Yoro from Lille.

Their next focus is on strengthening their defensive midfield, with Ugarte emerging as their primary target.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently disclosed that Ugarte had agreed on personal terms with Manchester United. The final step is for the clubs to settle on a transfer fee for the Uruguayan midfielder.

Romano stated on X: β€œManuel Ugarte has agreed to join Man United and settled on personal terms a few days ago, as previously revealed. Negotiations between PSG and Man United are ongoing, with a few days needed to reach the crucial final stages.”

Additionally, French outlet Foot Mercato reports that an agreement between Manchester United and PSG is close after extensive discussions.

The 23-year-old Ugarte has confirmed his intention to move to Old Trafford, despite interest from other European clubs, making it clear to PSG that Manchester United is his preferred destination.

PSG is asking for €70 million (Β£59 million), a figure that would enable them to expedite a deal for Benfica midfielder Joao Neves.

While Manchester United was also keen on Neves, reports from Portugal indicate that the club has now shifted its full attention to finalizing the Ugarte transfer, having conceded Neves to PSG. The French club was prepared to offer more, and Neves himself favored a move to PSG over Manchester United, especially with the latter not participating in the Champions League next season.
