Manchester United are reportedly open to sending Antony out on loan this summer, with the condition that interested clubs cover his wages in full.

The 24-year-old Brazilian winger was a major acquisition for the Red Devils in the summer of 2022, heavily endorsed by Erik ten Hag, who had previously coached him at Ajax.

Despite the substantial $111m (£86m) investment made by United, Antony has struggled to live up to expectations in his two seasons at the club, prompting the possibility of a loan move.

ESPN reports that United are willing to loan Antony out, provided the borrowing club agrees to cover his $90k (£70k) weekly wages entirely.

While United are considering a loan, previous reports indicated that the club’s management might be ready to part ways with Antony as part of a broader summer roster overhaul.

Having already secured Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, United are eager to further bolster their squad. However, budget constraints necessitate generating additional funds through player trades, with other wing options available for Ten Hag.

Although Antony isn’t deemed indispensable among United’s young talents, a loan appears more likely for the winger. Despite Antony’s ongoing challenges and a stern rebuke from his manager last season, Erik ten Hag has steadfastly supported his efforts to regain form.

In February, Ten Hag expressed his confidence in Antony, stating: “With Antony, I have long supported him. I know his exceptional abilities from the past – he is unstoppable in the first 10 yards. When he plays his game, he will perform.

“He is resilient, has a strong character, and will fight back. I back him, and he needs to be ready to seize his chance and make an impact when it comes.”
