Manchester United currently boasts some of England’s most promising young players. Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are emerging as potential stars, and the recent acquisition of Leny Yoro adds to the excitement.

In a conversation with Anfield Index, journalist David Lynch discussed Liverpool’s missed opportunity to sign Yoro this transfer window. Lynch noted that Liverpool acknowledges Yoro’s immense talent, but the club decided against investing heavily in him due to concerns about his potential playing time.

Lynch emphasized Liverpool’s high regard for Yoro, stating, “They really like the player, believe he’s very talented, and think he’s really good. However, at United, he might get more playing opportunities because their centre-backs aren’t as strong.”

While Liverpool didn’t pursue Yoro, they still recognize his potential. Seeing such a promising young talent join their rivals must be difficult for Liverpool supporters.

The timing wasn’t ideal for Liverpool to sign Yoro, given their strong centre-back lineup with Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Jarrell Quansah, and Joe Gomez. It would take an exceptional player to break into their first team at this point.

Yoro could prove to be that exceptional talent, but with only one standout season in Ligue 1, signing him would have been a significant risk for Liverpool. United, on the other hand, needed to take such a risk, and only time will tell if their gamble on Yoro will pay off.
