Man Utd’s £29m bid for Matthijs De Ligt rejected by Bayern! 🔥 The Red Devils made a bold move to strengthen their defense, but Bayern Munich turned down the offer. De Ligt, the Dutch sensation, remains a key player in Bayern’s squad, leaving United fans wondering if another attempt will be made. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling transfer saga!

Manchester United’s effort to secure Bayern Munich’s star defender Matthijs de Ligt has hit a roadblock as their £29 million offer was rejected, reports suggest.

United, in the midst of a major overhaul under new ownership by INEOS, have already secured two high-profile signings and are now targeting additional key players for immediate and future impact. De Ligt, seen as an ideal addition to their defense, has reportedly expressed interest in reuniting with former coach Erik ten Hag. However, negotiations have stalled with Bayern Munich, as the German club rejected United’s offer, which fell over £10 million short of their valuation.

Christian Falk reports that Manchester United’s bid of €35 million (£29 million) for De Ligt was turned down by Bayern, who are demanding £43 million plus add-ons. United’s reluctance to meet this price is partly due to their need to address other areas of the squad, despite recently signing Leny Yoro as another center-back option.

Similarly, Bayern Munich has been active in the transfer market, having spent almost €150 million (£129 million) on new players like Bryan Zaragoza, Horoki Ito, Michael Olise, and Joao Palhinha. With significant spending and no major sales yet, Bayern is also under pressure to balance their finances.

Negotiations are expected to continue, with United eager to bolster their defense following unsuccessful bids for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. Despite De Ligt’s willingness to join United, the transfer saga remains unresolved.

Signing De Ligt would be a significant acquisition for United. The Dutch defender, who has won league titles with Ajax, Juventus, and Bayern Munich, is highly regarded, though he has yet to win the Champions League. His experience and quality make him a valuable target for the Red Devils.
