Manchester United Eye ‘One of the Best Midfielders in the World’ 🌟 Rumors are swirling as Manchester United set their sights on securing one of the top midfield talents globally. Manchester United are exploring various options to strengthen their midfield, as a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi proves challenging, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has exclusively disclosed to GIVEMESPORT.

The Red Devils are struggling to persuade the Spanish international to leave his boyhood club this summer. According to Romano, Zubimendi is content with his current situation and does not feel the need for a new challenge.

Following the signings of striker Joshua Zirkzee and defender Leny Yoro, Manchester United are focusing on bolstering their midfield ahead of Erik ten Hag’s third season in charge. Midfielders Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, and Casemiro have all been rumored to be on their way out as ten Hag seeks to revamp his squad with INEOS playing a significant role in the transfer window.

Despite convincing Manuel Ugarte to join, United have been unable to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the Uruguayan, who joined the French club just a year ago.

United’s Admiration for Zubimendi Faces Obstacles

The midfielder remains happy at Real Sociedad

Manchester United admire Zubimendi, who has a release clause of approximately £51 million in his contract, valid until June 2027. Romano told GMS that the 25-year-old is content at Sociedad and not looking to leave:

“For Zubimendi, there is an appreciation from the scouting department. But it’s a complicated deal because of the price. There is a €60 million release clause, but the player is not desperate to leave the club. He has always been very happy at Real Sociedad. It’s his city, it’s his country, so that’s why Zubimendi is not an easy deal. But there are several options and, for sure, Manchester United are considering doing something in the midfield.”

A regular for both club and country, Zubimendi, described as one of the ‘best central midfielders in the world’ by Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente, appeared in 45 matches for Sociedad last season, scoring four goals. In April, the 25-year-old stated he feels ‘at home’ at Sociedad, despite transfer rumors linking him with top clubs across Europe.

Often compared to Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets, Zubimendi has been linked with a move to Camp Nou. However, Barcelona’s financial constraints have prevented them from pursuing big-money signings this summer.

Reguilon Interested in Returning to Old Trafford

Left-back not in Tottenham’s plans

Fabrizio Romano reports that Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon would be open to returning to Manchester United this summer. The Spaniard, who spent six months on loan at Old Trafford last season, is keen on a move back as he was ‘very happy’ at the club. United chose not to extend Reguilon’s loan in January, leading to his temporary move to Brentford, where his playing time increased under Thomas Frank.

With just 12 months left on his current deal, Reguilon was excluded from Tottenham’s pre-season tour squad and is not expected to play for Spurs again.
