Manchester United is gearing up to make a second attempt to sign Jarrad Branthwaite, who has already settled on personal terms for a move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils initially offered £43 million for the English central defender, but Everton turned it down.

As reported by The Mail, United intends to come back with a higher bid in hopes of convincing Everton to part ways with Branthwaite. Everton has placed a valuation of around £75 million on the player and, due to their financial struggles, they might be open to significant offers.

According to Football Insider, Everton was underwhelmed by United’s first bid for their prized asset. Last year, Manchester City shelled out £77.6 million for Gvardiol, and Everton considers Branthwaite to be worth even more than the Croatian star. Despite their financial issues, Everton has slapped a steep £90 million price tag on the 21-year-old center back and is determined not to sell him for less.

If Manchester United agrees to meet the £90 million asking price, Branthwaite would become the most expensive defender in football history. However, United is hesitant about paying such a high fee and may explore other defensive options if Everton remains resolute (ESPN).

What do you think Manchester United’s next offer should be to successfully land Branthwaite?
