Coming live from Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag confirms 2 first-team Manchester United stars will miss Brighton clash. United started their 2024-25 league campaign with a 1-0 home win against Fulham on Friday, August 16. New signing Joshua Zirkzee scored an 87th minute winner in that game to secure all three points for United. In a press-conference ahead of the Brighton game, Ten Hag has confirmed that three players will miss the clash. He told the media “zirkzee and Martinez won’t be available for selection against Brighton on Saturday, not out for a long time tho but just little discomfort we don’t want to take any risk we are trying to Manage injury Crisis this season. This is a big setback but we need to do what needs to be done,” Erik ten Hag has confirmed that zirkzee, and Martinez will miss Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion. This is a big problem for us😱Brighton will surely make good use of this opportunity. The fans are not happy with this💔😱🙀

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has announced that Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, and Rasmus Højlund will be unavailable for the Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, August 24. The Red Devils, who will be playing at the Amex Stadium, will be without several key players due to injuries.
United began their 2024-25 season with a narrow 1-0 win over Fulham, secured by an 87th-minute goal from new signing Joshua Zirkzee. However, they now face the challenge of taking on Brighton without some important members of their squad.
During a pre-match press conference, Ten Hag confirmed the absences of Malacia, Højlund, and Shaw, saying, “Tyrell Malacia and Rasmus Højlund are unavailable. Luke Shaw, of course, [is also out].”
Malacia has been sidelined since the beginning of the 2023-24 season due to a knee injury, and Ten Hag has indicated that the defender is expected to return in a couple of months. Højlund, who suffered a hamstring injury during a pre-season match against Arsenal, is likely to return by the end of August.
Luke Shaw, who sustained a calf injury during pre-season training, is expected to be out until mid-September. Diogo Dalot filled in as left-back during the Fulham match, with Noussair Mazraoui playing as right-back.
Ten Hag also revealed that Victor Lindelof will miss the Brighton match due to a toe injury. The Swedish center-back also missed the previous match against Fulham. Ten Hag expressed optimism about Lindelof’s recovery, stating, “He has a toe issue. We hope he can return soon, but he won’t be available this weekend.”
With Lindelof out, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez started against Fulham, and Matthijs de Ligt made his Manchester United debut as a substitute. However, United will also be without 18-year-old center-back Leny Yoro, who is injured after a pre-season incident.
Manchester United face a tough challenge against Brighton, especially given last season’s results. United lost 3-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford but secured a 2-0 victory at the Amex in the league. With several key players missing, Ten Hag’s team will need to perform at their best to achieve a positive result.
