Darwin Nunez has left Liverpool this evening after signing a contract for one of Premier League rivals Fans can’t believe he’s actually gone! 😢
Arsenal’s activity in the summer transfer window has been relatively minimal, with the club bringing in just two players for the first team: Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad and Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
Nonetheless, as the window nears its end, Arsenal has been surprisingly linked to a potential late move for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
Due to limited options up front, Mikel Arteta has had to rely on Kai Havertz to fill in for the injured Gabriel Jesus, which has reportedly led to interest in Nunez.
The Uruguayan striker has not featured in the starting lineup for Liverpool’s first two Premier League matches under new manager Arne Slot, who has opted for a front three comprising Luis Diaz, Mo Salah, and Diogo Jota.
Despite the rumors, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that Nunez has no intention of leaving Liverpool this summer.
Romano stressed that Nunez is committed to the club and content with the new playing style under Slot, assuring that he will remain at Anfield this season.
Although a move for Nunez seems unlikely, there has been speculation from Football Insider that Mikel Arteta could make a last-minute bid for Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
However, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Toney is on the verge of finalizing a lucrative transfer to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli.
