The fans are happy with this deal no one was expecting this🙀 It is time to replace Shaw and Gutierrez would be a quality replacement🙀😱💯
Spanish media outlets have announced that Manchester United has finalized the acquisition of Miguel Gutierrez from Girona. The 22-year-old defender was once part of the Real Madrid squad that clinched both La Liga and the Champions League titles two years ago.
Gutierrez has since made a strong impression at Girona, particularly over the past two seasons under coach Michel’s leadership.
He is currently contracted with Girona until 2027, with an annual salary of around £280,000. According to Cadena Ser, Real Madrid retains a buy-back clause for Gutierrez this summer, valued at just 8 million euros.
The Express reveals that Real Madrid intends to exercise this buy-back option and has already arranged to transfer Gutierrez to Manchester United for a fee of £34 million. This decision comes as Manchester United looks for a replacement for the injury-prone Luke Shaw.
Gutierrez has shown his talent both in defense and attack, starting in 35 league matches last season, scoring 2 goals, providing 7 assists, and contributing to 12 clean sheets that helped Girona secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
Despite his commitment to Manchester United, Shaw has been plagued by frequent injuries, limiting him to only 12 Premier League starts last season under Erik ten Hag due to muscle problems.
With Shaw’s fitness concerns, Manchester United is eager to bring in a dependable alternative, and Gutierrez appears to be a suitable candidate. However, joining Manchester United would mean Gutierrez misses out on playing in the Champions League next season.
