Spanish media outlets have announced that Manchester United has finalized the acquisition of Miguel Gutierrez from Girona. The 22-year-old defender was once part of the Real Madrid squad that clinched both La Liga and the Champions League titles two years ago.
Gutierrez has since made a strong impression at Girona, particularly over the past two seasons under coach Michel’s leadership.
He is currently contracted with Girona until 2027, with an annual salary of around £280,000. According to Cadena Ser, Real Madrid retains a buy-back clause for Gutierrez this summer, valued at just 8 million euros.
The Express reveals that Real Madrid intends to exercise this buy-back option and has already arranged to transfer Gutierrez to Manchester United for a fee of £34 million. This decision comes as Manchester United looks for a replacement for the injury-prone Luke Shaw.
