Manchester United Aims to Emulate Manchester City’s Success with Ambitious Redevelopment Plans in Trafford Wharfside Area”🔴
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has implied that Manchester United is attempting to emulate Manchester City’s achievements in the city, following United’s announcement to redevelop the Trafford Wharfside area.
Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness, who served as Everton’s CEO from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consultancy for elite clubs, remarked that Manchester United is “arriving late,” as City’s presence is already deeply ingrained in Manchester. On Monday, September 9, United announced a strategic partnership with Trafford Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
Their plan is to “craft a bold vision for the Old Trafford area, with a focus on how a world-class stadium can stimulate wider regeneration.”
United’s redevelopment plan includes constructing a new stadium with a seating capacity of 100,000.
Meanwhile, Manchester City has already transformed the area surrounding the Etihad Stadium, which was originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
