Manchester United may come to regret their decision not to appoint Thomas Tuchel, who is now leading another English team.
The 51-year-old manager was officially confirmed on Wednesday, following strong speculation that he would take over at Manchester United. However, when asked about choosing his current role over the Manchester job, the former PSG manager steered clear of discussing the situation directly.
In a press conference, Tuchel explained his reasoning: “Mark (Bullingham, FA general manager) and John (McDermott, men’s team technical director) approached me with a very convincing, confident, and clear plan. My decision was about taking this job, not rejecting another one.”
Tuchel had been anticipated to sign with Manchester United earlier in the year, but the club opted for Erik ten Hag instead. With United struggling in 14th place in the Premier League and Ten Hag under mounting pressure due to a poor start, the club may end up regretting their choice, especially if Ten Hag is let go and Tuchel is no longer available.
